Indigo and crystal children are often named interchangeably, but there are some real differences between the two aura colors. Though both indigo and crystal kids are part of the new wave of life colors beginning to direct the Earth, they vary in the type of sensitivity, in their psychic and other gifts, and in the kinds of emotional and psychological problems they may face during their lives.

How Old Are Indigo and Crystal Kids?
Nancy Ann Tappe began talking about observing indigo infants and kids in the early 1980's, whereas crystals began to appear in large numbers around the year 2000.
Although both of these aura colors may have been present in small numbers for much longer, the indigo and crystal "waves" are happening now. Experts working with these children estimate that almost all of the kids being born today are either indigo or crystal.
Some say the indigos came in to pave the way for the more sensitive crystals. Many indigo adults have children who are crystals.
What is the Energy Vibration?
Although both indigo and crystal children are sensitive and may have healing or psychic skills, the energy vibration of the two colors "feels" very different.
Indigo is a darker, more ambiguous colour. These children may be secretive, depressive, opaque and confusing to all but their closest friends. They often come across as profound and wise: the kind of child about which people say, "She's got an old soul."
Crystals, on the other hand, are usually smiling, happy children. They make friends easily and are a joy to be around. Crystals can bring light to a room, and are very empathetic from an early age.
Indigo children are insightful and intuitive. They can usually see right through lies and only respond well to honesty and respect.
Crystal children are empathic, natural healers.
Self or Camouflage: the Indigo Individual and the Crystal Chameleon
The strongest demand for indigo kids is to be their own selves. Indigo children do not fit in, and being forced to conform is one of the greatest trials for indigos.
A fulfilled, happy indigo is one who is able to be true to his - or herself, even at the expense of the acceptance of others.
Crystals, on the other hand, may not know themselves: they can connect easily with everyone and help them because their crystalline aura takes on the colors of whoever they are closest to, mirroring the people around them.
True chameleons, crystals need to take the time to clear themselves of other people's energies so they avoid taking on or identifying with other people's problems.
Note: This distinction does not preclude some people having characteristics of both. Pamela Oslie says that most people have two primary life aura colors, or one primary and one secondary, with elements of other colors mixed in. Some children have both indigo and crystal characteristics, though most lean toward one or the other.
ADD, ADHD and the Autistic Spectrum
Indigo and crystal children may be vulnerable to certain emotional and psychological problems, including ADD, ADHD, depression, and autism.
Indigo children are susceptible to ADD/ADHD and depression. Both of these are affected and can be modulated by diet and chemical sensitivities.
Although there may be other factors (e.g. genes, mercury in vaccinations), there does seem to be a correlation between the uber-sensitive crystal kids and autism. Many indigo kids appear to be on the autistic spectrum as well.
